107 : M & I

December 22, 2024

A beautiful thing about M&I's relationship is that their love isn't just a thing they hold for themselves, but also something they lavishly share with their community. As their wedding draws to a close, I exclaims, "This is the best lesbian wedding I've ever been to, and I'm so glad it's mine!"

101 : Vidéo « Les chiffres, ça parle » / Video "Numbers say a lot"

January 9, 2024

La vidéo s’ouvre sur une personne qui circule parmi un grand groupe de femmes en parlant des violences vécues par celles-ci : harcèlement, violence familiale ou conjugale, etc.

The video opens with a speaker walking through a large crowd of women talking about the violence that women experience. Violence from the family, harassment, and conjugale violence, among others.

99 : Cece & Flo

November 14, 2023

A stone path leads you from the wedding celebrations up on the hill down to a serene lake. Flo gently takes Cece's hand as they walk down the path from the sailcloth tent, past the stunning board and batten chalet, and down to the serene lake.

Pandemic Gardens Montreal Portraits Elise (Selena Phillips-Boyle)_0001.jpg

Blog 84 : Pandemic Gardens (Part Five)

March 16, 2021

Élise pulls out a bag of soil and transplants her coleus into a bigger pot. Her glasses slip down her nose as she focuses on the task. As she moves around the balcony, I photograph a quiet calm in her, a direct impact of Élise's garden on her mental health.

Pandemic Gardens Montreal Portraits Flavie (Selena Phillips-Boyle)_0002.jpg

Blog 84 : Pandemic Gardens (Part Four)

March 2, 2021

Flavie's free and open spirit is reflected in how they approach their garden; they encourage things to grow where they fall, and embrace the mixture of flavours that result from this interconnectivity beyond the stereotypical pairing of tomatoes and basil. Together we make some portraits together in their backyard garden.

Blog 84 : Pandemic Gardens (Part Three)

February 16, 2021

Kristen welcomes me into the collective garden and I'm transported from the busy borough of Point-Saint-Charles in Montreal to a lush vegetable garden oasis. An important aspect of Kristen's mental health is her engagement with socio-political issues, and taking power over her food is one way to achieve food autonomy.

Blog 84 : Pandemic Gardens (Part Two)

February 2, 2021

As I photograph Leh, she slowly moves around her garden with her green watering can, listening to the needs of each plant before carrying on. Seeing her body relax spending time surrounded by growing things, I can see how time spent in her garden is good for Leh's mental health.
