Vince & Elenore

Vince Elenore Edmonton Wedding Winter (Life by Selena Photography)_0046.jpg

When the weather is the perfect combination of windy and nice, Vince and Elenore like to drive out to Wabamun Lake and take out their sailboat, the Whisper. You can imagine my delight when they suggested this activity for their engagement photos. I've long said that the best photos come out when I photograph couples doing activities they organically do together. A picnic on the boat deck followed by a quick sail close to the harbour rounded out our engagement session before a summer storm came through the area putting an end to our photo session.

On the day of their wedding, a pair of vintage skis hang on a stone fireplace, unique background elements in the photos as Elenore gets ready. As she puts on the final touches, her bridesmaids move around her with a calm yet excited energy. Over at his best friend's house, Vince is also getting ready, the beautiful light flooding the house creating a beautiful glow on the groomsmen as they fussed with ties and adjusted their hair. A two-photographer team made it possible to simultaneously capture each of these preparations.

As we wait for Vince and Elenore's wedding ceremony to start, the importance of family connections imbues the space with energy as children play around the room and a community of all ages is present to celebrate. The ceremony starts and at the front of the room, the University Club at the University of Alberta large brick fireplace frames Vince and Elenore as they exchange rings and share vows.

After the ceremony we go down the street to the historic Rutherford House to capture some formal wedding photos, the rich wood, full bookshelves, and classic wallpaper all lending an old-timey vibe to the photos. I steal Vince and Elenore for a few moments alone on the roof of the building where Vince showcases his hidden singing talents, eliciting a lot of laughter from Elenore. Later, we stop at a spot at Gallagher Park, a place with a great view of downtown Edmonton. The low winter sunlight is a dream as we capture group photos with the wedding party. As a natural light photographer, I love winter weddings and the dreamy light they afford.
