Katie and Larissa (Selena Phillips-Boyle)

32 : Katie & Larissa

November 4, 2016

In my version of the story, it all started with guitar duets to the likes of First Aid Kit and Ingrid Michaelson in the living room of my first basement apartment. Five years later, it was an incredible pleasure to spend the day with Katie and Larissa and capture their wedding celebration.

Supayana (Selena Phillips-Boyle)

31 : Supayana Fashion Shoot

October 31, 2016

Montreal designer Yana Gorbulsky finds her inspiration in all things vintage, and from her bag emerges an assortment of prints covered in bananas, cats and polkadots. I had the opportunity to sit down with Yana after our photo shoot to ask about designing children’s clothing in Montreal.

Blog 30 (Selena Phillips-Boyle)

30 : Zürich Fashion Streeters

August 4, 2016

In May 2013 I hit the streets of Zürich, Switzerland to discover what people were wearing, and to find out a little bit of why they liked their outfits. I was delighted that most people were willing to talk with me and share a little bit about their clothing with me.

July 8, 2016

When I first sat down with Cathy and Gianmarco, they told me they were planning a “big Italian wedding”. Never again will I under-estimate the meaning of those words.

28 : Jessa & Justin

June 29, 2016

Light. Photography is all about light. Photographers love to shoot during the “magic hour". Or in a northern city like Edmonton, the magic “two hours”. Just long enough for my engagement session with Jessa and Justin.

Alina Islam (Selena Phillips-Boyle)

27 : Nutritionist Alina Islam

June 13, 2016

I caught up with Alina, a nutritionist, at the Saint Lawrence Market. We stopped by the market for the fruits and veggies she would use in our shoot. I couldn't resist capturing her as she walked through the market carefully selecting avocados and hiding behind pints of cherry tomatoes.

Series Habitantes

26 : Séries Habitantes

May 3, 2016

My photography voice has been a bit quiet lately on this blog and social media because I’ve been busy working away on a new project called Séries Habitantes. The basic idea of Séries Habitantes is a curated gift box highlighting the very best of Montreal artisans and handiwork.

25 : Radio Action en Direct

March 22, 2016

Although the focus for a radio program is the auditory content, it’s also important for the audience to make a visual connection with the program’s speakers. The program du jour, Action en Direct (Direct Action), is a radio program produced by the Industrial Workers of the World here in Montreal.

23 : International Women's Day

March 8, 2016

I’d like to share some words and photos from ten totally kick-ass women I’ve had the opportunity to photograph over the past year. I’d like to open the discussion to some of their ideas, and celebrate some of their accomplishments over the last 365 somersaults.

22 : Gus and Adam

March 3, 2016

The cities of Sydney, London, and Vancouver are evenly distributed across the world’s timezones. In 2012, Gus and Adam, originally from Sydney, were living near London. Due to the political climate at the time, they weren’t legally able to get married in either city. The creative solution? Fly to Canada!
